Janis came to Aliyah to find "just the right" puppy with "just the right" aptitude to do all the things that Janis had in mind. After watching the puppies for quite some time, she picked the busiest little girl who was always into everything, and who also wanted to see what you were doing all the time. Sunny was eager to please and learned a phenomenal amount of commands in a relatively short period of time, including playing dead. You can see her doing that here, making it look like she got run over by the giant ball. Since July, 2007, Sunny has been a therapy dog through Dog B.O.N.E.S. of Massachusetts (Dogs Building Opportunities for Nurturing and Emotional Support), and for the last two years has been visiting a school with special needs children as their first therapy dog. She is amazingly patient with the children. Her twice monthly visits have even helped some severely autistic children breakthrough the communication barrier. Just starting her agility career in 2008, Sunny has moved quickly through the novice levels, attaining her Gambler's Elite title in less than 6 months. Sunny gave herding a try too. She showed very good instinct on the sheep, but indicated that it definitely was not as exciting as agility!! As they continue to compete in the agility ring, keep an eye out for this amazing team. They are definitely fun to watch! |
